Kiel to Stockholm

Herr Manfred Hartung, dents in Freja and the rush to the party

We stayed in the canal for a week waiting for the weather to improve, but upon leaving we decided that the weather still wasn't good enough, so we stayed on another week in the city of Kiel. Here we met a man called Manfred Hartung who ones a 150 ton fishing vessel which he uses to take people on chartered fishing trip during the summer. Manfred spent the week showing us around the city, took us out to dinner and helped us with everything we needed. I must say he was probably the kindest person I have met during the entire trip from Australia. Once again, a big thanks Manfred!
Whilst tied to Manfreds boat (MS Ostsee Star) we were hit by a large sailboat practising boating maneuvers in the harbour. This of coarse delayed the final leg of the sail further whilst insurance etc was worked out.
We had a lovely time in Kiel, but were getting very anxious to get in to Stockholm. The sail to Stockholm took only two days as we pushed the boat to the limit trying to make it back for the party and welcome committee. With the exception of a couple of close calls the final leg went well.

Sailing Freja in through the Swedish archipelago was by far one of the most amazing moments of my life.

Freja is now being prepped for the next leg of the journey. Where to? Who knows.

A big thank you to everyone involved in the trip. All the amazing people we met on the way, all the people who have helped in anyway with the boat and a special thanks to the people who have acted as crew! PO, Sanna Porter, Anders Porter, Dennis Andersson, Tim Lanham, Peter Eliasson, Sofia Söderman, Matilda Berggren, Alfred Liabeck and Elisabeth Lundmark.

But the biggest thanks goes out to our dad for being such an amazing person and giving us a chance to do something we will remember for the rest of our lives! Thank you.
