When anchored on the coast of Spain, we ran into some swedes who told us that the Kiel canal really was not worth going through. They said it was dirty, smelled of cow manure and you couldn't see anything because of the high sides. While we did catch the odd whiff of cow manure, everything else they had promised was completely falls. The weather was nice, the German people are lovely and there was lots to see. We had an amazing time sailing through the German country side.
It was a little confusing going through the canal. Even with the help of a book we received from an old English sailor. But once in we cruised in to Rendsburg where we met a few interesting people including Discoboy and a professional pool player named Thomas. They showed us around the town in the days we where there waiting for the weather to improve in the Baltic.
